Lichfield Municipal Charities comprises thirteen Almshouses known as William Lunn’s Homes which are situated in Stowe Street, Lichfield. The Almshouses are available for occupation by poor inhabitants of the City of Lichfield and the aim is to provide convenient and comfortable accommodation in a secure setting, which allows residents to come and go as they please.
After payment of the costs of maintaining the Almshouses and expenses incidental to the administration of the Charity, any surplus is available for the relief in need, either generally or individually, of persons resident in the area of the former boundaries of the City of Lichfield who may be in conditions of need, hardship or distress, by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities considered to reduce the need, hardship or distress. It is considered that by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities, the need, hardship or distress of such persons can be reduced.
The Trustees may pay for such items, services or facilities by way of donations or subscriptions to institutions or organisations which provide or which undertake in return to provide such items, services or facilities for such persons.
